Description
The Senior Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Specialist will lead the development of GIS data for a wide variety of professional services. This position will perform a variety of GIS analysis, GIS data development, GIS data maintenance and data preparation for use in public safety GIS systems and regularly communicate project status to our customers, as customer service is a key component of the Senior GIS Specialist position. The Senior GIS Specialist will lead functional teams to deliver GIS data and GIS services to our clients, with a strong emphasis on teamwork, customer commitment, sense of urgency, and continuous improvement.
Lead GIS data and mapping deliverables for the Engineering, and Surveying departments while supporting both internal and external project teams.
Lead the development of technical specifications, project approach, cost estimates and schedules. Work closely with the client and contractor to meet project deliverables.
Lead GIS mapping and data collection projects.
Develop enhancement software packages using information from various sources (MS Access databases, MS Excel spreadsheets and documents such as deeds, field notes etc.) to import GIS maps.
Lead the creation of the projections and transformations of deliverables.
Responsible for the development and recommending GIS system needs and requirements and implementing improved work methods and quality control of deliverables.
Lead and present the project budgets and cost estimates.
Prepare monthly client status reports.
Develop and maintain effective relationships with existing and potential clients, customers and contractors in order to develop business.
Responsible for developing sales pursuits and proposal development.
Ensure compliance with company and site safety policies.
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in GIS, geography, environmental science, or closely related natural science field, with master's degree in similar field a plus. Applicable years of experience maybe substituted for degree requirement.
Minimum 14 yrs and experience working in the ArcGIS desktop environment is required (ArcGIS Desktop 10.0 or higher a plus).
Excellent GIS skills, including data analysis abilities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office suite.
Prior GPS and applicable natural science field experience a plus
