Burns & McDonnell Senior GIS Software Developer - 1898 & Co. (Kansas City) in Kansas City, Missouri

Description

The Senior GIS Software Developer is responsible for ensuring our customers’ success by creating best-of-breed solutions to business challenges. A Senior GIS Software Developer’s responsibilities include participating in Agile meetings, working with team members and architects to build and enhance systems and programs, performing code reviews, and working to support products as needed.

Duties:

  • Leads application development and implementation on one or more computing platforms.

  • Reviews solutions analysis and provides input for build or buy recommendations.

  • Leads development of program code based on defined requirements.

  • Reviews requirements for application interfaces and conversions.

  • Develops system test plans.

  • Responsible for all phases of project application development documentation.

  • Responsible for following programming and documentation standards and development and project methodology.

  • Design, test, deploy and maintain one or more software products

  • Collaborate with team members to produce software

  • Work with the architecture team to make technical recommendations

  • Responsible for defining business needs, application scope and objectives, analysis and solution recommendation and software implementation.

  • Coordinates all phases of system development and implementation including design, coding, testing, documentation, training and implementation.

  • Responsible for application interfaces and data conversion.

  • Responsible for ensuring that the team follows program standards, development methodology and project management techniques.

  • Provide analysis of potential solutions and develops input for build or buy recommendations.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, any Engineering discipline, or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum of 8 years’ full lifecycle development experience as a backend developer in C#/Java or frontend development with modern JavaScript frameworks (Angular, React, Aurelia, etc.).

  • Experience in an Agile Scrum environment as a senior developer

  • For C# developers, experience with .Net core is highly preferred

  • For Java developers, experience with one or more facets of the Spring stack is a plus

  • Experience with relational or NoSQL databases (SQL Server is highly preferred) and creating SQL statements

  • Experience with HTML, CSS, web fonts, and Bootstrap are also highly preferred

  • Experience with TypeScript is highly desirable

  • Experience with CI/CD and containers is highly preferred

  • Experience with Azure and/or AWS cloud platforms is highly preferred

  • Experience with Geographic Information Systems, ArcGIS API’s and Python is highly preferred

  • Delivery of complex software solutions consistently on time with little to no errors

  • Able to perform IT work or leads a team to perform work

  • Good communication with team and customers

  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills

  • Certification may be required (system dependent)
