Burns & McDonnell Senior Consultant - Management Consulting - 1898 & Co. (Kansas City) in Kansas City, Missouri

Description

1898 & Co., a part of Burns & McDonnell, seeks an energetic, accomplished Senior Consultant to contribute to successful consulting engagements with clients in the fields of utility grid modernization, zero-emissions mobility, change management, strategic asset management, and/or grid management services. This position will provide industry-leading guidance and support our customer bases driving innovative solutions through deep technical and/or industry experiences. This position will be responsible for providing deep technical oversight, expertise, and support engagement delivery across multiple concurrent projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Guide and work alongside teams of junior consultants through all phases of delivery, including discovery, requirements gathering, analysis, solution architecture, recommendations, and implementation.

  • Understand, advise, and assess industry and market influences, trends, and technologies.

  • Develop and maintain trusted and open relationships with client and partner leaders at top management levels.

  • Assist in building the firm's expert network of industry and technical resources.

  • Leverage professional network to generate new opportunities through quality delivery and technical excellence.

  • Establish credibility through thought leadership (technical papers, industry publications, digital media, etc.) and participation in industry and technical groups, conferences, etc.

  • Support efforts to increase the firm's market share for consulting services in the chosen area(s) of focus by securing additional projects and clients.

  • Contribute to key pursuits in the chosen area(s) of expertise.

  • Develop and deliver training classes to share knowledge and expertise.

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to staff.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, computer science, business, or related field from an accredited curriculum. Graduate degree or MBA preferred.

  • Minimum 8 years of consulting, utility industry, or relevant experience.

  • Consulting experience preferred.

  • Past and current participation in industry and/or technical groups.

  • Demonstrated network of external colleagues and partners within their chosen area(s) of expertise.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of leading technologies applied to their chosen area(s) of expertise.

  • Experience in facilitation, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients.

  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) and presentation skills.

  • General business and financial knowledge.

  • Practical project management skills.

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
