Description
We are seeking to hire a Technical Advisory Consultant with a focus in Grid Modernization for our 1898 & Co. (utility consulting) Global Practice in our Houston, TX regional office!
Responsible to perform electrical studies and planning of utility electrical distribution systems, including:
Distribution System Planning Studies including construction work plans and long range plans
Real and Reactive Power Flow Studies
Voltage Drop Studies
Coordination and Sectionalizing Studies
Distribution Automation Studies – Volt/VAr, FLISR, CVR
The ability to interact with a wide variety of people to obtain the required information needed for performance of electrical distribution system studies
Prepare system study reports and perform quality reviews of project deliverables
Track project schedules and budgets
Some travel should be expected Required Education/Experience
Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering with Power systems focus with a minimum of 3 years of Distribution Planning Experience.
Minimum 3 yrs or Master's in Engineering with 2 years of applicable experience or a PhD in Engineering.
Consulting experience strongly preferred.
Ability to conduct basic research related to engineering and design, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations, and preparing and presenting recommendations.
Self-motivated to perform assigned tasks, and take the initiative to learn new topics.
Must have strong command of English language; experience and demonstrated written and oral communications skills, including the ability to present information, facilitate meetings and provide direction to others.
EIT with the ability to obtain PE when experience requirements are met is strongly preferred.
Exposure to Electrical Power System Analysis using one of the following software packages - CYME, Milsoft, or Synergi.
Three (3) years of experience in the electrical power delivery industry is strongly preferred.
Experience with utility standards and overhead/underground distribution design.
Experience with the integration of distributed generation within the planning process.
